Setting Personal Goals
When setting personal goals I look at two categories: the first is self improvement and the second is relationship goals. Let's look at self improvement first.
Setting Personal Goals - The Perfect You
What do you want for yourself? I have to admit this is one section that really stretched my thinking. So I asked myself some questions which helped me in setting personal goals. What did I want to improve about myself? Was there anything I wanted to learn? Did I have any behaviors I wanted to change? Brainstorm these questions. Write down as many things as you can think of on your personal goals list. Here are some examples of personal goals:
Learn a language Write a book Have passion for life everyday Start my day with a smile Have balance in my life between career, family and me
Learn to bake Be grateful everyday for what I have Remember people's names Enjoy public speaking My personal goal list was longer than this. I left my list for a day, came back, took another look, and removed some less important goals. Work with your list and refine it. Once you have your list, number your personal goals from most important (# 1), to least important. Congratulations ! You have set your personal goals and know which ones you want to accomplish first.
Setting Personal Goals - The Perfect Relationship
There are many different types of relationships in our lives: family, friends, co workers and that special person. Some relationships we already have, and others we are looking for.
Relationship Goals - A Current Relationship
If you are in a relationship and want to improve it, think about how you want it to be and write it down. This becomes your relationship goal. If you get stuck thinking about what you don't like in your relationship, use that. What is the opposite of what you don't like? That now becomes your relationship goal.
Relationship Goals - The Perfect Partner
If one of your personal goals is to find that perfect partner, you need to think about what is important to you. You can ask yourself the following questions:What kind of activities do you like to do? What type of emotional support do you want? Is traveling important? Is passion important? What family values are most important to you? Are you career minded? Does your partner have to be? Is creativity a factor? Are you a social person? Are you an animal lover? These questions are examples; add your own questions. Write down your answers. Is this everything you want in a relationship? Leave your answers for a day and then come back to them. Ensure your relationship goal list is complete and include everything that is important to you. When you have finished this you have will have the blueprint of your perfect partner. Once you know what type of person you want in your life, you will attract them.
